Concerning independent security testing of state agencies' information technology systems and infrastructure by the military department (Hudgins, Harmsworth, Tarleton)
Authorizes the office of the state chief information officer to test the security of a state agency's information technology systems and infrastructure to identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities.
Authorizes the state military department to conduct independent security testing of the information security of a private entity operating within the state, or unit of local government of the state, involved in the management of critical infrastructure.
1ST SUBSTITUTE COMPARED TO ORIGINAL:
The requirement for the Military Department to share test results with the chief information security officer and the Utilities and Transportation Commission is removed, and those entities must meet regularly to discuss best practices and trends
2ND SUBSTITUTE COMPARED TO 1ST: A null and void clause is added, making the bill null and void unless funded in the budget.
