Bill: SB 5084 — 2017
Providing women with timely information regarding their breast health (Rolfes, Angel, Hasegawa)
Requires that information about an individual patient's breast density be added to the summary of their mammography report. If a patient has "extremely dense breasts," the summary must include additional specific language.
1st SUBSTITUTE COMPARED TO ORIGINAL:
-Removes the subsection that provides that liability for health care facilities is not created for facilities that fail to comply before the act takes effect.
-Provides that the bill does not create a duty of care for health care facilities or providers beyond the notice in the bill.
EFFECT OF FLOOR AMENDMENTS
Amends the effective date and expiration date of the act.
HOUSE COMMITTEE (Health Care & Wellness) AMENDMENTS:
Removes language in the notice to mammography patients that dense breast tissue may be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.
